Ignorance is a position

It’s just not a defensible one.

Ignorance is especially fatal to:
1. Attempts to win through intimidation,
2. Appeals to one’s own authority, and
3. Relationships with other people.

I keep trying to come up with examples from my career, but I don’t want to embarrass the people involved. I’m sure you know some people who fit this mold, and it’s a hard thing to fight when it seems to succeed. (Trump is one such unfortunate example.)
